Professor Associado de Direito do Trabalho e Direitos Humanos da Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de São Paulo - Largo de São Francisco, vem lecionando, pesquisando e desenvolvendo atividades de extensão com ênfase em Proteção Social do Migrante, Trabalho e Plataformas Digitais e Mediação de Conflitos, área em que foi agraciado pelo Conselho Nacional de Justiça com o Prêmio Conciliar é Legal - Ensino Superior (2017).
Também advogando em São Paulo, foi Visiting Fellow na Cornell University (2018 Spring Term) em Ithaca, NY (EUA), com passagens de docência e/ou pesquisa ainda por instituições como Harvard Law School (HLS-BSA), Shinshu University, The University of Tokyo (Japão), University of Oregon (EUA), Università Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia - Adapt (Itália), Universidade de Coimbra (Portugal), Iniversità di Bari (Itália), Universidad Internacional de Andaluzia - La Rabida (Espanha), e pelo Research Committee on Sociology of Law ISA– Oñati (Espanha). Foi Secretário Nacional de Justiça, do Ministério da Justiça (2002), Procurador Legislativo do Município de São Paulo (1992-2017) e o primeiro Diretor da Escola do Parlamento da Câmara Municipal de São Paulo (2011- 2017).

1) Legal Culture and Dispute Resolution Patterns: a Comparative Analysis between Brazilian and Japanese Legal Systems -Whereas Japan is widely known for its remarkably low litigation rates, on the other hand, Brazil exhibits extremely high and increasing number of judicial cases. The intuitive common-sense explanation for this huge contrast, that we assume plausible, points out that differences are due to cultural patterns. Notwithstanding, such amazing contrast seems to require further and deeper understanding, that are consistent to the main questions of this research: 1) what cultural factors could be arguably pointed out as litigation motivators, considering the most relevant scientific literature devoted to this theme? 2) among these motivators, which ones tend to cause inhibition or to bring stimuli to go to courts? Therefore, the present research aims to analyze, innovatively, by means of a comparative perspective comprehending Brazilian and the Japanese legal system, the cross-relations between cultural differences and litigation standards.
2) The impact of the increasing on-demand services: it consists of a comparative research on the impact of the increasing on-demand services, especially those intermediated by apps, on the labor & employment legal system that prevail among ILO members since the last century. Like other countries with semi-peripheral economy, Brazil experiences an intense and unresolved legal debate on this subject, apparently very similar to the one we can observe taking place in core economies. By contrasting both, semi-peripheral and core economy legal environments, the research aims at reviewing and summarizing the debate held until now, as well as identifying possible innovative strategies for regulatory policies, focusing on the protection of labor rights in combination with the improvement of economic productivity and competitiveness.
